Two-year project CleverNet „Implementation of innovative sensor networks in interegional context“ had a goal to support small and middle size cities in a strategic approach to implementation of sensor networks and a systemic use of the data.
At the same time, small-medium sized companies involved in installing sensor technologies and supporting the development of the Smart City concept are included in the project as project partners to gather information on the needs of cities.

Objectives and results of the project
The key motivation for the project was that while in the commercial sphere investment in sensor networks is judged by return, in public services the economics are not the primary objective; the focus is on certainty (regularity and reliability, e.g. public transport connections, supply of free parking capacity), quality of service (e.g. healthcare) and accessibility (non-discrimination).
The support consists in the preparation of methodological recommendations on how to proceed in building sensor networks, the preparation of a model for the organisation of competences in the Smart City concept, supporting CBA analysis, etc. The intention is to develop a catalogue of use cases for sensor networks and their appropriate application in public sector investments.
The aim of the Catalogue is to familiarize users with the possibilities of today's technologies and their application in practice, especially in digital models and digital planning of the state, regions, cities and municipalities. At the same time, the project has built a so-called "living laboratory" in the city of Žilina, where a sensor network has been piloted and a data platform has been created, which in its final form will efficiently evaluate the collected data on traffic intensity, environment, parking and others.
